Flat Acres Farm Review

Fall in the Denver area is one of my favorite times of the year.  My son and I visit farms and pumpkin patches practically once a week all season long.  Flat Acres is a farm we first visited last year with my Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group.  I was immediately pleasantly surprised by how close it was to the city.  It’s conveniently located in downtown Parker, easily accessed from anywhere in the Denver area. While it’s centrally located the second you set foot on this farm you feel like you’re out in the country.  They have done a beautiful job decorating this place and the photo spots are never ending.  You’re sure to get the perfect family fall shot on this farm!

There is so much to do here you could spend all day enjoying all the attractions.  My family and I were able to enjoy a little of everything in an afternoon.  I particularly love that almost all of what’s inside the gates is included with your  $12 admission ticket.  This includes climbing wall, bouncy castles, petting zoo, face painting, corn mazes, and so much more.  Most the farms we visit charge for activities like bouncing castles and face painting so we were excited to take part in both at Flat Acres.  There was so much to do, which helped with crowds.  We were there on a perfect fall Sunday afternoon in September and were even able to have some attractions all to ourselves! We spent time playing hide and seek in the corn maze, taking tractor rides, climbing the rock wall, racing rubber duckies, swinging on the tire swing, and taking advantage of photo boards.

I was particularly impressed by the petting zoo at Flat Acres.  The way it was set up was so easy to navigate as a parent.  It was a gated tent with one entrance and one exit with hand sanitizer at both and a wash station at the exit.  The animals were all in cages that allowed visitors to see thru-and occasionally touch animals like cows, horses, donkeys, sheep, and goats.  They also had bunnies and chickens in smaller cages that could be pet.  In addition to these animals being low enough for children there was a staff member with a bunny out of the cage available to touch and cuddle.  Some of these animals are for sale and they all looked in great health and comfortable in their setting.  I particularly loved the alpaca but my son is always partial to horses, and he was smitten by the very large horse in the middle of the room.  Unlike most petting zoos I’ve visited in the area I didn’t not feel crowded, or rushed thru.  There also seemed to be ample staff caring for the safety and happiness of the animals and visitors.

Overall this fun family farm checked all the boxes for that classic farm experience.  They even have haunted houses in the evening!  This place is worth checking out for all ages if you are in the Denver area.  Keep Flat Acres in mind when planning your next fall play date.  Annual Fall Festival goes now thru Halloween 2018.
